The Trunk Road T4 is a strategic infrastructure project connecting Shing Mun Tunnel Road/Tsing Sha Highway and Sha Tin Road. Upon completion of Trunk Road T4, residents of New Territories East can travel directly to Tsuen Wan and West Kowloon without having to go through the local roads in Sha Tin town centre, thus relieving the traffic conditions in the area.

Considering the future housing developments and the development of the Northern Metropolis, the population in New Territories East will further increase. The Trunk Road T4 will become an indispensable part of the road network by enhancing the overall transportation infrastructure for commuting between New Territories East and Kowloon.
